ASHE WEDNESDAY!

It’s the beginning of Lent! Many of you are giving up something very important to you for the next 40 days. Regardless of whether you are doing this to support your religious beliefs, or you are making a sacrifice as a testament of personal strength – doing without anything that you treasure for 40 days is a true challenge. I think it is an AWESOME thing to do at any point during the year. I’d love to hear what YOU are giving up, so that I can give you ongoing support for the next 40 days! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

The Dailey ENERGY BOOSTING Tip: EAT SMART CARBS!!! Carbs may be the foe of fad diets, but they’re vital for boosting energy and mood. They are the body’s preferred source of fuel, plus they raise levels of the feel-good chemical, serotonin. The key is to avoid sweets, which cause blood sugar to spike and plummet, making you feel tired and moody. Instead, pick whole grains like whole-wheat bread, brown rice, and cereal. Your body absorbs whole grains more slowly, keeping your blood sugar and energy levels stable. Sweet potatoes, oatmeal (gluten-free oatmeal works too), rice, quinoa, & beans are also GREAT complex carbs to keep you feeling great every day!

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day! I’m working on a special workout for my Functional Fitness groups to get you in the mood for LOVE! Flex’ers…as a special treat, I hope you will bring the one you love to class with you (for free!)! RELAX with corrective exercises & head out for a special Valentine’s date afterwards! Give me a head’s up if you are bringing a “date” to class so I will know how many to plan for!
